INDUSTRIES to PUBLIC BUILDING
Photographers gallery in London.
The Gallery is located at a crossroads, between Soho and Oxford Street.
The corner site is visible in a glimpse view through the continuous shop frontage of Oxford Street. Ramillies Street is approached down a short fight of steps, leading to a quieter world behind the scenes of London life, a laneway with warehouses and backstage delivery doors.
The brick-warehouse steel-frame building is extended to minimise the increase in load on the existing structure and foundations. This extended volume houses large gallery spaces. A close control gallery is located within the fabric of the existing building…

INDUSTRIES to MULTI-WORKSPACES
Awarded the name for its location in a former bottle plant, Flacon (The Bottle) was set up as a set of offices and workspaces for the creative industries inside a carefully transformed industrial estate.
INDUSTRIES to CULTURAL BUILDING
After the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian dynasty this 19th-century architectural gem, conceived as a factory for the manufacture of insecticide, fell into disuse. (The building’s exterior was meant to evoke the flower that was the basis for the insecticide.) For years it was used for storage purposes, and for half a century it simply lay empty. In 2006, the current heir to the Zacherl fortune decided that enough was enough: he wanted to turn the old factory into a space for the arts.
